High School Team

The Jeffersonville High School swim and dive team was founded in 1971 by coach Tom Landgraf. Tom led the program from non-existence to its highest ever state team finish with the boys of 6th in 1977. In total, the boys team has placed in the top 25 at state thirteen times while the girls have placed in the top 25 twelve times with its highest finish being 9th in 1979. The team also produced three state champions under coach Keith Gast in the early 2000s; Ariel Martin won two titles, Ben Hesen won five titles, and diver Marsh Lindley won one. Combined they have 15 sectional team titles over the history of the team and 20 Hoosier Hills Conference team titles.ย

The swimming and diving Red Devils have always been a force in the water with many athletes continuing to swim or dive at the college level, many making it to national level meets, and even a few that made it all the way to the Olympic trials. Not only are the swimmers and divers forces in the water but the swim team has a history of having the highest team GPA among all sports. Out of the water they make some of the best academic and group leaders at the school. Under current Head Coach, Michael Pepa, the Red Devils continue to uphold a standard that has been set by the generations before them both in and out of the water.

Middle School Team

The Jeff Middle School swim team has been a bridge connecting River Valley and Parkview swimmers for many years. The team used to swim at the pool located at River Valley, but since its closing, they have combined to swim at Jeffersonville High School. This great group of young swimmers is a good mix of veteran USA swimmers and swimmers brand new to the sport. It is a great way for young athletes to step into the world of competitive swimming and see if swimming at the high school level is for them. The team competes in the Clark/Floyd championship with other local middle school teams and has numerous first and second place finishes there. Most importantly, these swimmers learn hard work ethic and practice managing time between sports and academics at a young age.
